Newark cyclist Isabel Darvill steps onto the podium again with third place at the Active Fakenham Easter Festival

One of the most experienced riders in town scored another podium on Sunday.

Newark’s Isabel Darvill, part of the ProNoctis/Rotor/RedChillBikes/Heidi Kjeldsen Elite women’s cycling team, finished third in the Women’s Active Fakenham Easter Festival Criterium E/1/2/3 in Norfolk.

Darvill was also a big part of her teammate’s race win, helping to block any braking attempts after Jo Tindley broke away from the pack.

Also on Sunday, Rebecca Richards, who was racing for the Storey Racing team, took part in the second round of the Women’s British Team Cup series at Coalville, Leicestershire.

The Newark cyclist finished 11th on a very technical course in a bunch sprint, after several riders retired due to crashes at several key points in the race.

Jack Levick scored a memorable double over the Easter weekend with victories on Good Friday and Good Saturday.

The Newark-based cyclists, riding for the Rose Racing Team, won the Good Friday Hull City Road Club ten-mile time trial on a course based between Scalby and Howden, Humberside, in a very creditable time of 19 minutes and 50 seconds, averaging 30.252 mph.

He beat the second-placed runner by more than a minute.

Levick repeated the performance on Saturday by winning the Sleaford Wheelers ten-mile time trial in exactly the same time.

Again, taking the win by just over a minute (01-05).

The Lissaman sisters of Newark Castle Cycling Club both competed in round two of the British Cycling Mountain Bike National Series at Whithaugh Park in Scotland.

Against most of the UK’s top young riders, Florence finished ninth in the junior women’s race and Charlotte tenth in her age group race on Sunday.
