EF Education-Nippo is not afraid of a change of kit for the big races. Regularly during the Giro d’Italia, the team makes the headlines with radical designs and collaborations. For the Paris-Roubaix 2021, the team is starting over, but if they will stay in their usual pink outfit, the team’s riders will swap their helmets for a very striking but meaningful design.

Designed in collaboration with POC and Muc-Off, the Wild Helmets celebrate the efforts of frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Every rider’s POC helmet – whether it’s the Ventral or the Ventral Spin – will feature the names of frontline workers, as well as the words “thank you” in different languages.

The helmets were first brought to light during the Tour of Flanders and Amstel Gold in April, but after the Paris-Roubaix 2020 became a pandemic event and the 2021 edition was postponed to the fall, the team chose to relaunch the campaign for the Hell of the North.

“We are delighted to present these epic helmets again at another iconic race,” said Alex Trimnell, CEO of Muc-Off. “Initiatives like this and our continued support for the World Health Organization, which recognizes the heroes of this pandemic, are incredibly rewarding – it’s great to give back, especially during tough times.”

What makes these Muc-Off POC helmets unique is that each EF Education-Nippo rider has selected their own collection of frontline worker names to adorn the switch design. There is no doubt that this campaign will culminate in its notoriety at Paris-Roubaix, which is arguably the most esteemed of all day-long road races.

“We are proud to be associated with a company like Muc-Off that understands the importance of impact initiatives like these,” said Alie Hopper, vice president of business development with the team. “We can’t wait to show off the helmets one last time at Paris Roubaix.

Additionally, cycling fans have the option of owning one, as the team will be donating three signed helmets. To have a chance to win, fans must nominate a frontline pandemic worker through Muc-Off’s online submission platform.
